This department was started in 1999 to monitor distribution of relief materials in times of natural calamities like- flood, drought, cyclone, fire, earthquakes, etc. However, apart from concentrating on relief, the department has also taken initiatives in developing skills and generation of self-employment opportunities by conducting training programs in handicraft, handloom, and cottage industries.
