The Evangelical Churches Association (ECA) was founded in 1952. The church is a constituent member of the Evangelical Congregational Church of India (ECCI). The origin of ECA can be traced back to the Senvon village in Churachandpur district in the year 1910. Roberts founded an indigenous mission agency called the Thadou-Kuki Pioneer Mission (TKPM), which was later on rechristened as the North East India General Mission (NEIGM). This mission agency was instrumental in spreading the gospel and planting of Local churches among the tribal population of which ECA is one. ECA is a church rooted in evangelical tradition and presently has more than Local 200 congregations with a membership of more than 35,000 (thirty five thousand) spread across the North Eastern states of India.
